Torey’s 5K Fitness Challenge

Do you want to get fit? Have you always wanted to run a 5K? Well, I know the feeling!

I’m Torey – you hear me every now and then on the air, usually to talk about community events. That’s my job at the station – Promotions Director – which means I’m the behind the scenes person for all the fun stuff you hear about on the air (ticket giveaways, events, fundraisers)! That’s what I do by day….by night, I am a blogger, reader, and aspiring runner.

What is Torey’s 5K Fitness Challenge?? 

Torey’s 5K Fitness Challenge is an eight week training program, culminating in running the 5K Cauldron Run at the Sunflower State Games on July 15.

I am using the guide based on Hy-Vee KidsFit. Hy-Vee KidsFit is a FREE online tool to give your family ideas on how to increase your fitness levels through posts, eating tips, videos, and training tools, one of which being the 5K Training Guide. Click HERE to visit the Hy-Vee Kids Fit website.

Why am I a “PRO”? It’s based on the following fitness levels:

ROOKIE: Just starting to exercise or haven’t exercised in six months.

PROFairly active in sports, dance or some type of regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

ALL-STAR: Very active in sports or have been exercising 4 or more times per week for 6 months.

I chose PRO because I have been attending 3-5 cardio classes per week for about four months now.

How does the challenge work? 

Each week, through posts on 94country.com and on our 94.5 Country Facebook page, you’ll follow along with me as I work through the program. Some days, I might have friends or family join me, and you never know when someone else from Alpha Media Topeka will show up! Throughout the challenge, we also may be challenging YOU at different times, so make sure you are following along. You never know when you’ll win a prize! 🙂

Can I follow along? 

Definitely! Summer is the perfect time to get back into fitness. Each week provides a fun activity on Fridays to keep your family involved too!
