Leaders of the Band

Each week, check out this page for the “Leader of the Band!,” a band member in an area school recognizes for their leadership and accomplishments.  Each student recognized receives a Wendy’s gift card and a “Leaders of the Band” t-shirt from Reliant Apparel.

This Week’s Leaders of the Band

Laura Taylor has been in band for the last 8 years. She attends Jefferson West High School. She plays flute and piccolo and is the flute section leader. Music has impacted my life by allowing me to be involved at school, make friends and create bonds that will never break. My experience being involved in music has shown me how to be a leader, be respectful, and work with others in a positive manner. Music has also helped me with my future in education by receiving a scholarship to Butler community college. I will continue to play in Butlers band with an activity scholarship and pursue a degree in Interior Design.

Maraih Murdie has been in band since 5th grade.she attends Jeff west High School. She plays the french horn and is section leader. I enjoy singing and playing. Music has always helped me cope with all my feelings. In the fall, I will attend The University of Nebraska at Omaha to play basketball. I am undecided on my major but I do hope to continue to singing.
